Finding relevant experience and coffee chats
Part of the Business Analytics learning and recruiting path. Read the explanation and example, attempt the task, then open the self-check.
Know what to learn for your role.
From foundations to a work sample, with sources, tasks and self-checks.
Understand
Match by function, role, intake and comparable school/major. A personal account describes that person’s process at the time, not necessarily the current official process. Introduce yourself, explain the relevance and ask a specific question in a concise invitation.
Worked example
Example draft: “I am preparing for a similar role and would like to understand how you moved from coursework to your first internship. Would a 15-minute conversation be convenient?”
Examples and numbers are educational, not employer questions, live market data or hiring criteria.
Practise and keep your output
Choose a real public experience, compare backgrounds and draft three questions, an invitation and a thank-you. Track confirmed and unconfirmed information.
Keep inputs and sources, assumptions, steps, results and uncertainties in your own document. Attempt independently before checking below.
After attempting: answer and self-check
Avoid confidential questions and private contact details. Leave a gap when no relevant real contributor exists. You decide whether to send any draft.
