Spreadsheets, tables and data grain
Part of the Business Analytics learning and recruiting path. Read the explanation and example, attempt the task, then open the self-check.
Know what to learn for your role.
From foundations to a work sample, with sources, tasks and self-checks.
Understand
Define what one row represents before filtering, aggregating or joining. Check keys, dates, units, missing and duplicate values. Preserve raw inputs separately from transformations.
Worked example
An order containing three items creates three item rows. Row count is not order count.
Examples and numbers are educational, not employer questions, live market data or hiring criteria.
Practise and keep your output
Create ten order-item rows and calculate item rows, unique orders and revenue. Identify the key.
Keep inputs and sources, assumptions, steps, results and uncertainties in your own document. Attempt independently before checking below.
After attempting: answer and self-check
State the grain, avoid repeating order totals in sums, and document unique and missing-value handling.
