Statistics, funnels and experiments
Part of the Business Analytics learning and recruiting path. Read the explanation and example, attempt the task, then open the self-check.
Know what to learn for your role.
From foundations to a work sample, with sources, tasks and self-checks.
Understand
Examine distributions and sample sizes rather than only averages. Define randomisation, primary metrics, guardrails and windows before experiments. Improvement alone does not establish an effect.
Worked example
Conversion 100/1,000 versus 120/1,000 differs by 2 percentage points and 20% relatively. These ratios alone do not establish significance.
Examples and numbers are educational, not employer questions, live market data or hiring criteria.
Practise and keep your output
Design a signup-flow experiment with sample, allocation, metrics, observation period and stopping rules.
Keep inputs and sources, assumptions, steps, results and uncertainties in your own document. Attempt independently before checking below.
After attempting: answer and self-check
Avoid stopping opportunistically at significance. Report uncertainty, sample constraints and business relevance.
