Company research and valuation
Part of the Asset Management learning and recruiting path. Read the explanation and example, attempt the task, then open the self-check.
Know what to learn for your role.
From foundations to a work sample, with sources, tasks and self-checks.
Understand
Explain how the company earns money before analysing competition, accounts and valuation. Break a thesis into testable drivers. A good business and an attractive price are different questions.
Worked example
Illustrative EPS 2 and price 30 imply 15× P/E. One-off earnings may distort the denominator, so a low multiple alone does not establish undervaluation.
Examples and numbers are educational, not employer questions, live market data or hiring criteria.
Practise and keep your output
Use a public annual report to map revenues, two drivers, three risks and a consistently defined valuation table.
Keep inputs and sources, assumptions, steps, results and uncertainties in your own document. Attempt independently before checking below.
After attempting: answer and self-check
Make facts traceable, label forecasts as assumptions, and explain peer differences rather than inferring a purchase from one multiple.
