Programming, debugging and version control
Part of the Technology & Software Engineering learning and recruiting path. Read the explanation and example, attempt the task, then open the self-check.
Know what to learn for your role.
From foundations to a work sample, with sources, tasks and self-checks.
Understand
Learn variables, branches, loops, functions and basic structures. Define inputs and outputs and reproduce bugs minimally. Version control records explainable changes. Start with a runnable program.
Worked example
For [3,1,3], sorted unique output is [1,3], while order-preserving unique output is [3,1]. Clarify the requirement first.
Examples and numbers are educational, not employer questions, live market data or hiring criteria.
Practise and keep your output
Implement deduplication, check empty/duplicate/invalid inputs, and document one debugging session.
Keep inputs and sources, assumptions, steps, results and uncertainties in your own document. Attempt independently before checking below.
After attempting: answer and self-check
Match the specification, reproduce the failure and explain the reason in a commit message.
