Engineers Registration Board — R.P.E. FAQs
Read the government registration board’s answers on what it takes to become a Registered Professional Engineer (R.P.E.) in Hong Kong — the legal licence, not the institute membership.
Hong Kong institution, statutory body or programme published for Hong Kong; individual services, eligibility and dates must be checked.
Recommended next action
Read the eligibility answers, then write down the four things they say you must have beyond being a corporate member of the HKIE.
Access and scope
The FAQ page is free to read. Applying for registration carries a fee, paid by credit card, cheque or cash as set out on the same page.
What to check at source
Registration also requires at least one year of relevant professional experience in Hong Kong after obtaining the qualification, ordinary residence in Hong Kong, demonstrated competence in the discipline and fit-and-proper standing. The page says the process typically takes a few months. Fee levels and per-discipline requirements are not restated here.
