The rules page is free to read. Sitting either test is arranged through the Civil Service Examinations Unit and is separate from any grade’s own application.
What to check at source
A pass result in the BLNST does not by itself mean a candidate meets any grade’s entry requirements. Exemptions and accepted alternatives are listed on the same page and change over time; this page carries several dated examination arrangements.
