Verify MPhil–PhD or RA–degree routes by institution; personal experience does not establish automatic transfer.

Assess affordability and research conditions

Use one time period for cash shortfall and model delayed or discontinued support. Affordability and opportunity costs are personal decisions. Discuss meeting preparation, feedback, task allocation, authorship and working boundaries. AI may organize questions or rehearse discussions, but cannot promise on a supervisor's behalf or diagnose PhD suitability.

Use a research log to improve supervision

Organize meetings around completed work, evidence, failures, decisions needed and next tests. Discuss specific blockers rather than hours spent. Record your understanding and response to feedback; clarify ambiguous requests. For persistent mismatch, use formal university advice channels to investigate options.

1. A has a base shortfall of 60; B has 140 without support, which cannot be deducted before confirmation.
