The role and the cycle
McKinsey Hong Kong Business Analyst internship, 2027 intake. Application in September 2025, Problem Solving Test, then two rounds of case interviews in November.
The test gates everything — no score, no interviews. My outcome was an offer in early December 2025, after failing the test in a previous sitting.
How the process actually ran
Failed the Problem Solving Test in a March 2025 sitting. Applied 2 September 2025. Re-sat the test in late September 2025 and passed. First-round cases in early November. Final rounds in late November. Offer in early December.
The eighteen months between the two test sittings is the part of this story that matters most.
Application strategy
I had already failed the PST once before I applied, which meant I knew the gate was real and I planned around it.
