“In IBD, 'it depends' is a reasonable answer. On a trading floor interview it fails you outright.”

The role and the cycle
JPMorgan Hong Kong Markets summer analyst, 2027 intake. Same campus window as investment banking but a separate track: online assessment in April, HireVue in April, trading floor interviews in May, assessment day in late May.
The syllabus is completely different from IBD. My outcome was an offer in mid-June 2026.
How the process actually ran
Applied 25 March 2026. Online assessment early April. HireVue mid-April. Trading floor interviews early May. Assessment day late May. Offer mid-June.
About twelve weeks. The markets timeline runs roughly two weeks ahead of IBD at every stage, which matters if you are doing both.
Application strategy
I applied to Markets and IBD on the same day, to the same firm, and that created the hardest decision of my cycle.
